Dr. Israel Isenberg

DVM

Dr. Isenberg grew up near Marion Center, PA. He attended Pennsylvania State University and earned his DVM degree at Cornell University in 2004. He practiced in upstate New York for one year before returning home and joining Kittanning Veterinary Hospital in 2006. Dr. Isenberg practices large animal medicine, and has a special interest in food animal production medicine. He has experience in the use of ultrasound for pregnancy diagnosis. Dr. Isenberg, his wife Cassandra, and their two daughters live on a small farm near Marion Center. He enjoys farming, hunting, and spending time with his family; in particular, playing dolls and pretend cooking with the girls!uminant medicine.

Dr. Beth Allamam

DVM

Dr. Beth Allaman grew up in the Gibsonia area. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Animal Bioscience from Pennsylvania State University, she attended the University of Pennsylvania for her VMD degree. Dr. Allaman practiced at a mixed animal clinic in western Wisconsin for 6 years before returning home to join Kittanning Veterinary Hospital/Veterinary Clinic of Indiana in November 2013. She is a mixed animal practitioner, seeing both large and small animal patients. She has an interest in dairy and small ruminant medicine. Dr. Allaman lives in the Sarver area with her Sheltie, Tula, and her cat, Skippy. She enjoys training and competing in dog agility with Tula, baking and cooking, and collecting nail polish.

Dr. Kara Miller

DVM

Dr. Kara Lynne Miller was born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland but has always enjoyed spending time at her grandparent’s home farms in West Virginia. Dr. Miller attended the Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University where she double majored in Dairy Science and Animal & Poultry Sciences. Before starting veterinary school, she got accepted into a yearlong externship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Marshak Dairy which further cemented her love of bovine medicine. She then attended veterinary school at Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine in West Lafayette, Indiana. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and animals, hiking with her dogs and goats, participating in agility training with her dog Ruger, photography and rooting for the New England Patriots every Sunday. Dr. Miller owns a menagerie of animals including four Newfoundlands (Koalie, Ruger, Denali and Tug), two cows (333 and Red Bull), two goats (Copper and Todd), seven cats (Murphy, Tabs, Ladybug, Chai, Tom, Hokie and Sassy) and some fish. Although Dr. Miller is proud of all of her Newfoundlands, she is especially proud of Koalie and Denali who are registered pet therapy dogs. Dr. Miller is a mixed animal practitioner with her main interests include dairy cows, goats, large breed dogs and cats.

Dr. Amber Zanella

DVM

Dr. Amber Zanella grew up in Chicora, PA. She attended Otterbein University in Westerville, OH where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Science with an emphasis in Pre-Veterinary Studies and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Zanella continued and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2020. Throughout veterinary school, she emphasized her studies and experiences around food animal medicine with additional equine interests. Dr. Zanella in her free time enjoys riding horses, hiking and spending time on the farm. She will be seeing mostly large animal patients out on the farms!

Dr. Casey Goebel

DVM

Dr. Casey Goebel grew up showing Limousin cattle in Wampum, PA. After earning her bachelor’s from West Virginia University in 2013, she received her DVM from Lincoln Memorial University as part of the inaugural class in 2018. She worked at a mixed aninal practice in Virginia for 2 years before deciding to move closer to family. She has a strong interest in both companion animals and food animal medicine. She lives in West Kittanning with her two pitbulls, Quinn and Gracie, and her cat, Peggy. When she’s not in the clinic, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, exploring on the motorcycle with her boyfriend, spending time on the family farm, and cheering on the Mountaineers.

Dr. Melodie Eng

DVM

Dr. Melodie Eng is originally from Singapore and has made multiple moves before moving to the Greater Philadelphia area and, finally, the Greater Pittsburgh area. She started her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Drexel University, intending to pursue human medicine. While earning her biology degree, she acquired interests in physiology, animal behavior, and a smattering of environmental science. This eventually led her to pursue veterinary medicine at the University of Queensland, where she graduated in 2022. In vet school, she enjoyed working with companion animals, food animals and studying equine arboviruses.

Dr. David Meleason

DVM (Retired)

Dr. David Meleason, originally from Ford City, PA, received his undergraduate degree from Montana State University in 1984. He worked at various construction and manufacturing jobs until he trained and worked at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh as a Medical Technologist and Histocompatibility Technologist from 1991-1995. Dr. Meleason received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at North Carolina State University in 2000. He then furthered his education at the Ohio State University and the University of Pittsburgh. He joined Kittanning Veterinary Hospital in April 2004. Dr. Meleason’s interests are canine and feline internal medicine. Dr. Meleason and his wife, Lauren, live with their two dogs (Biko and Finn) and three cats (Rorschach, Vassili and Verbal). He enjoys spending time with his pets, reading, the Pirates and cheese.

Dr. Gabriel Durkac

DVM (Retired)

Dr. “Gabby” Durkac was born and raised on a small farm near Tarentum, PA. He attended Cornell University from 1963 to 1970, earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and his DVM degree. He joined Dr. Lash in 1970 and became partner in 1971. Gabby enjoyed small and large animal practice until 1985, when his focus shifted to primarily large animal. He performs monthly herd health visits to area dairy farms, and is interested in large animal medicine. Gabby met his wife, Elaine “Lani” Bishko at Cornell while she was earning her home ecology degree. They married just after their graduation in 1970, and settled into their Slate Lick farm in 1975. They had three children, Bo, Lance, and Brandi. Sadly, Lani died on June 7, 2009 of ovarian cancer; Gabby remarried Rosemary Sullivan on September 2, 2011. Outside of work, Gabby enjoys tending to his home farm with beef cattle and sheep; sports; traveling; and spending time with family.

Dr. Robert L. Lash

VMD (Retired)

Dr. Lash received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, and earned his VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960. He practiced briefly in Bedford, PA, until he returned to his hometown of Kittanning and opened his own practice in 1963. He currently sees only small animal patients, but spent many years in mixed practice tending to companion animals and livestock. He is interested in all areas of medicine and animal culture, and is especially skilled in surgery. Dr. Lash has been married to Carolyn Murphy for 55 years. Together, they live near Kittanning and enjoy spending time with their four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; farming; and a variety of outdoor sports.
